Hi, I’m Joella, the VP of Group Fitness for EōS, and I am passionate about helping our members reach their highest potential. I’ve been in the industry for 32 years, and I’ve done and seen it all, from teaching aerobics to managing my first health club right out of college.

But Group Fitness has always been my passion, and while I still teach, I now create programming with my team for EōS that keeps us on the cutting edge of innovation. We want to have  something for everyone and be a place where everyone feels welcome!

So, when I heard that EōS had partnered with a “revolutionary” nutrition program called Betr, I was naturally curious. 

 

And if I’m totally honest, I was just a bit skeptical, thinking, “oh, another diet.” As a woman in the fitness industry, I’ve seen hundreds of diets come and go. They all have one thing in common…

Most diets work while you’re on them, but they’re unsustainable and impossible to stick with for life.

1. Give it 3 good days.

I’m a creature of habit, so I won’t say it was “easy” to give up my wine or my pizza, but I wanted to give Betr a fair shot. 

After 3 days, I started noticing a difference….

I was experiencing more restful sleep, less pain, and minimal cravings. As time went on, I kept feeling better and better. 

Betr was easy to follow, the cravings eventually went away, and the food was easy to order or prepare. I stuck with it, and I’m glad I did.

2. It healed my inflammation...big time.

I’m no gut science expert, but I’ve read enough to know that our gut is central to many diseases and disorders. 

And I know that our environment and what we eat can mess with our gut health.

As a lifelong athlete and fitness professional, I have my fair share of lingering injuries. 

With a ruptured Achilles tendon, four knee surgeries, and a shoulder injury, I was used to a certain level of pain when going through my day. 

After 30 days on Betr, I felt like my inflammation was nearly GONE! I was able to do things that I hadn’t done without pain FOR YEARS.

Before Betr, I’m not sure I’d had a good night's sleep in my entire life. I’m a light sleeper, up-and-down, waking multiple times every night. 

But with Betr I’m sleeping longer, and the sleep I’m getting is deeper and higher quality. Now, I wake up with more of a pep in my step! 

3. Say “adios” to bland, boring food!

Being in the fitness industry I know that we’ve practically been conditioned to believe in the “trainers diet.”

Chicken, broccoli, and a sweet potato, every day, all day.


But that gets boring, and because it gets boring, it’s not sustainable. There’s got to be a betr way (and there is!).


I’ll be honest, I’m not a cook. Thankfully, with Betr, I’ve found dishes that are easy to make AND delicious. If I don’t feel like cooking, I can always order Betr’s Meal Delivery.

My Betr go-to meals are the grass-fed bison burgers with avocado and salsa, and the meatballs are great, too! 

What can I say? I find something I like, and I stick to it. 

If you do like to cook, I have friends who’ve been able to make tons of delicious dishes from the food on the Level 1 list.

4. Some "healthy" foods weren't healthy FOR ME.

Another great thing that I learned from Betr was how to listen to my body.


For years, I’d relied on foods that I (and a lot of health and nutrition professionals) believed were “healthy.”

But, when I started Level 2 on Betr, I realized these foods weren’t helping me feel my best!

Foods like salmon, brussels sprouts, and egg yolks…even the cream in my coffee!

When I reintroduced them, I just didn’t feel as good.

And I’m not saying these AREN’T healthy foods…but they weren’t the best for me. That’s what's so great about Betr.

5. You don't have to be a stick in the mud😉

To me, this is the most important thing about Betr.

6. Betr is for all walks and seasons of life.

I know there’s a lot of programs out there that focus just on men, millennials, women of a certain age, or retirees!  But Betr is not only FOR everyone, it WORKS for everyone - men, women, younger, older.

As a 53 year old woman going through a time in your life where your body changes (weight gradually creeps up, energy goes down and sleep is unrestful), I just feel happy to be back in “fighting shape” and feeling fit, healthy and happy!
