Crispy Baked Tofu is a simple and delicious way to enjoy tofu with a satisfying crunch. Coated with nutritional yeast and a touch of avocado oil, this tofu is baked to perfection and makes a great addition to salads, stir-fries, or as a snack on its own.
Ingredients
- 1 block extra firm tofu (16 oz)
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tsp avocado oil
- 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt (optional)
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper (optional)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. This can be done by wrapping the tofu in a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes
Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into bite-sized cubes or slices according to your preference
In a large bowl, gently toss the tofu cubes with avocado oil until evenly coated
Sprinkle the nutritional yeast over the tofu, adding Himalayan pink salt and ground black pepper if desired, and toss again to ensure an even coating
Arrange the tofu pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching each other for optimal crispiness
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping the tofu halfway through the baking time to ensure even browning and crispiness
Remove from the oven once the tofu is golden and crispy. Let it cool slightly before serving
