Ingredients
-
2 cups whole garlic cloves, peeled
-
1 cup raw local honey (or enough to fully submerge the garlic cloves)
Directions
In a mason jar add your peeled garlic cloves and cover completely with honey
“Burp” the jar every other day for the first week to release gas that has built up from the fermentation process
Mixture is ready after 3-4 weeks or when the honey has thinned and no more air is released when opening lid
Store in a pantry or cupboard away from light and moisture
Good for 1 year after canned date
Recipe Note
It may not sound like the most appetizing combination, but your immune system and gut health will thank you for giving it a try. Not only does this unconventional mixture provide a natural antibiotic boost, but the fermentation process allows for an increased level of beneficial bacteria and enzymes to develop.
These probiotics support a healthy gut microbiome, which plays a critical role in our overall well-being. Plus, with its sweet and savory taste, you might just find yourself adding a spoonful of fermented garlic honey to your meals as a delicious and nutritious condiment.
Chew one to two cloves a day at the first signs of a cold. To keep your immune system strong, use regularly in salad dressings and marinades!
