Counting Calories, yes or no?

Most of us have heard that if the number of calories in are less than calories out, weight gain or plateau will ensue. While it is good to be aware of the amount of food you’re eating and aim to reach for nutritious, organic and filling foods; calories counting can lead to stress and unnecessary obsession with diet and image.

Diets are work. They’re punishment. They only achieve results in the short term. We want an excuse to take a break from them as soon as possible.

It is far more important to aim to eat healthy and focus on balance and portion size. Our general guideline here at Betr is to get at least five servings of fruits and veggies a day. Lean protein and whole grains should also be eaten every day.

Health is a journey and it starts by taking small choices that make you feel more energized and happy! Eating shouldn’t be a math problem, where calculations need to be done to achieve best results. Instead, it should be a pleasure and great successes can come from simply being more aware of what you feed your body and taking care of yourself!
