Tips to Support Digestive Healing

1 – Chew Your Food: Healthy digestion and nutrient absorption begins with chewing your food. This aids in digestion by making food particles smaller and easier to pass through the entire system. If food is improperly chewed, only the outer portion will be digested by the stomach acids and barely broken down to a size that is efficient for further digestion. Large un-chewed portions of food put strain on the valves between the stomach and the small intestine. Because these food particles are so big, they don’t breakdown but start to decompose. This results in bacteria going into the bloodstream and digestive tract.

2 – Eat Slowly: Eating fast and swallowing air while not chewing food well can also cause acid reflux, gas, indigestion, IBS, heartburn, constipation, and bloating. If you experience these symptoms, slow it down and enjoy the taste and texture of the amazing whole foods you are eating.

3 – Go Raw: The naturally occurring enzymes in raw fruits and vegetables aid in the digestive process and help breakdown cooked foods. This means that 70% of your fruits and veggies should be eaten raw. Each day consume at least one large mixed salad plus veggies from the food list.  Add a small side salad when eating cooked veggies. Eat whole fruits instead of juiced to get additional fiber.

My mother always said to “chew your food good” but I think this takes it to a whole other level. I naturally chew the organic food longer because it tastes so good and healthy. I want to get every vitamin and mineral out of this awesome food!

I’ve always been told that I’m a slow eater and my response to them was that I chewed my food to enjoy it! Now I need to work on including more raw veggies.

This was good advice. Especially about rotating my proteins. I love this program as I see that ground beef is not my friend. I fixed the sloopy Joe’s and gained 3 pounds back. No won’t be eating that . Love this program ❤

Lots of informational touchpoints along the way to allow us to become experts on healthy eating and our own bodies. This is the equivalent of college courses on nutrition. When you add the gut biome to brain connection and the micobiome reset, it takes it to a whole new level. I can assure you that you posess more knowledge about this subject matter than 95% of the physicians you may encounter. If they understood what Dr Farro has come to understand we would all be healthy, fit, trim and full of life. Feel fortunate you have come upon a path to Betr health. May you always stay on this path and enjoy life to the full.

Either consciously or unconsciously I have always been one of the last members of my family at the dinner table eating my food on my plate, and yes I did my share of talking while eating -but nine times out of ten, I felt like I was trying to always “catch up” on everyone putting the dishes by the sink after a meal! I am learning so much about gut health and I am becoming more mindful of the fact that I need not rush such delicious and nutritious vitamin and mineral infused meal choices!
I want to say “thank you Betr Health and thank you Dr. Farro” for these awesome learning tabs and areas of your app you rightly named “YouVersity!” This is a life-changing Betr Health journey! Keep eating slowly, enjoy this journey! I know I am and I will!

This has been such a learning experience. Because of the industry I’m in, I’ve always eaten standing up and in a rush. Slowing down has made such a great difference! Thanks!

As a little kid, I used to watch my grandmother chew her food during dinner. She was a life-long vegetarian. Coming full circle, it made sense to me then and makes sense now – especially since digestion starts in the mouth. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers!

    What a great read.

I really focused on chewing yesterday, and was aware of how much food breaks down with just a few seconds more of chewing. Simple and profound.
