A warm and soothing turmeric latte, also known as "golden milk," is a delightful beverage that combines the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric with the comforting flavors of cinnamon and ginger. This recipe includes ingredients that enhance the absorption of turmeric, making it a nutritious and delicious drink.
Ingredients
- 8 oz unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder (consider starting with 1/2 tbsp and working up to the full amount)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger (consider starting with 1/2 tsp and working up to the full amount)
-
1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp coconut oil (helps with turmeric absorption)
- 1 pinch ground black pepper (helps with turmeric absorption)
Directions
Measure out all the ingredients. If you are new to turmeric lattes, start with 1/2 tbsp turmeric and 1/2 tsp ground ginger to see how you like the taste, then adjust in future batches
In a small saucepan, heat the almond milk over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling
Add the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey, coconut oil, and black pepper to the hot almond milk. Whisk continuously to ensure all the ingredients are well combined and the coconut oil melts completely
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes, continuing to whisk occasionally. This helps to blend the flavors and ensures the spices are well incorporated. For a frothier latte, you can use an immersion blender or carefully transfer the mixture to a blender and blend for a few seconds
Pour the turmeric latte into a mug and enjoy it warm. You can sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top for garnish if desired
